Five Sentence Fiction- Potions

Number 4 is an old bungalow at the end of the street- it has an unkept garden and mail piled at the door. The grown-ups say the lady who lives there is crazy, the kids are scared and won’t go near the house for they think its evil- but the old folk of the town say she is a witch, a witch that had created a potion to live an extra 100 years.  She is the talk of the town, a legend- even though no one has yet seen her go outside, these are the rumours. Every Friday you can see smoke coming out of a window- people say she is creating more potions.  The lady looks out of the window and smiles to herself- she will give them all something to talk about on Halloween.

There was an old lady in my neighborhood when I was growing up. We were eskeered of her.
None of the adults thought she was a witch, though. I’ll bet she was harmless.
This one — not so much.

    Cheers!

This made me chuckle. Everyone has it in for the poor old lady at the end of the street… I’d love to take her some freshly baked cake or ask if she needed any chores doing. I suppose I’m standing up for the old dear 😉 Nice piece, Jenny, and like most of the FSF’s I’m reading – I WANT MORE!
    So job well done 🙂

  3. Often in stories, the old woman who is feared and talked about turns out to be harmless. I like that this woman is living up to the hype 🙂

I think that most towns have one of these houses. Thank you for reminding me of the one I knew growing up!
