Book Review- Wickham Hall by Cathy Bramley
Holly Swift has just landed the job of her dreams: events co-ordinator at Wickham Hall, the beautiful manor home that sits proudly at the heart of the village where she grew up. Not only does she get to organise for a living and work in stunning surroundings, but it will also put a bit of distance between Holly and her problems at home.
As Holly falls in love with the busy world of Wickham Hall – from family weddings to summer festivals, firework displays and Christmas grottos – she also finds a place in her heart for her friendly (if unusual) colleagues.
But life isn’t as easily organised as an event at Wickham Hall (and even those have their complications…). Can Holly learn to let go and live in the moment? After all, that’s when the magic happens… (From Amazon)
Was a 4 part series but now published all in one which appealed to me. It took a awhile to get into the story and to like the characters but ended up a good read!
Some bits were obvious and predictable but the typical boy meets girl was written well. I enjoyed the variety of events she managed and the feel good descriptions of them. I felt how busy Holly was and I soaked up the atmosphere as if I was there too.
I do feel some characters lacked limelight and feel her best friend was only there for her -maybe to many characters for a story that I got confused at one point but each character has their own personalities (one had a surprising twist that I did not see coming). The romance between Holly and Benedict was good but found it slightly annoying how many chances he was going to give her. I liked the mums back story – I found her condition unique for a story and worked well.
