Operation Christmas Child

Taken from a fellow blogger Wendy http://castawaywithdreams.wordpress.com/2012/10/26/operation-christmas-child-and-a-shoebox-full-of-presents/ (thanks hun). It inspired me to join in on the fun and it is such a great cause 🙂

OCC is where you get a shoebox, fill it up with useful things and fun stuff- wrap it up and drop it off at a local drop off point (between 1st-18th November). Then they take it to one of many countries and give the box to a child who need a cheer and xmas spirit!

So I have my shoebox, decided it would be for a boy and inside so far are:

  • felt tip pens
  • crayons
  • pencils
  • pad of paper
  • soap
  • x2 flannels
  • hairbrush and comb
  • x2 toys

Will put in a bag of sweets and some other lovely things before wrapping it up!

If you would like to make up a shoebox- look at the website for details on what you can put in and drop off points 🙂 :-

Thanks for the mention, and glad I inspired you to make one of your own! 🙂 It’s fun finding lots of little things to put in, isn’t it – and all for a good cause!

  2. That’s lovely – and a really good way of passing on stuff/toys that are no longer needed. Now I need to find a shoe box!

I love Operation Christmas Child! Last year I packed 3 shoeboxes after picking up an OCC-flyer from a shoe shop cash desk. I didn’t know the whole thing before. This year we collected gifts all over the year so that we were able to pack 14 shoeboxes. To make some children in Eastern Europe very happy is much more satisfying than receiving a present myself.
