Five Sentence Fiction – Detour

My first FSF!

Sophie loved being organised, a bit OCD at times but she had a plan- a life plan and she always thought her path was setting stone, like a motorway.  When she met Charlie the plan took a detour, another path was created. She did not mind as much, just a slight adjustment- maybe now off the motorway onto a duel carriageway. The years went by and another change in events happened- a baby! Now her path was all over the place, much like a country road.

Great post! It is very challenging trying to engage a reader in five sentences, but just from this one paragraph, I can get a good sense of Sophie and her outlook and dreams. Well done!

I liked the idea of marriage as a ‘duel’ carriageway. Was that purposeful?

  10. Yes. Life happens when we’re making other plans indeed! Good job, Jenny.
