  1. Great list of books. I’ve read the first two books of Fifty shades. It’s not the best but it’s a sweet love story. x

    Nice list!

I personally prefer The Hobbit to the “main” trilogy of Lord of the Rings books, since it’s relatively self-contained. It can get rather dense, at times, though.

Colour of Magic is also very, very good…if quite different in tone from Tolkien. 😀 Hogfather is perhaps my favorite of the Discworld books…but there is some continuity between Colour and that one, that you may not want to skip, if you like the first book.

A somewhat simple book that is nevertheless one of my favorites is Clive Barker’s The Thief of Always. It’s a quick read, but full of magic, adventure, and childlike wonderment. I’ve recommended it to my nephews, who are twelve, and they both loved it. That may be too fast or basic a read for you (I can read it in a day), but I’ve always enjoyed it every time I’ve picked it up.

  3. Nice list! I think I will end up getting sucked into the 50 Shades hype! I think you will enjoy the Help – The film version was fab!
