Prompt- There’s a real buzz about this place

There’s a real buzz about this place, pink tutus flying around everywhere and pumps waiting on the side to be overworn on precious and talented feet. Nerves started to kick in and sweat threatening to ruin her makeup. Isobel knew the routine but somehow it wasn’t enough to calm her. The only time she danced was in front of her teacher- but now to an audience?

“Curtains up in 5” a voice entered her thoughts

Isobels feet were starting to move but she felt detached from them. This was her dream, her moment to shine-

“Can I do this?” she wondered

Oh I hope she can put that stage fright aside and shine!

  2. Stage fright! What a horrid feeling. Liked your take on this prompt. Original.

Oh gosh! I so remember that feeling of ‘yes I want to’ against ‘no I can’t’.

  4. Lovely story. I haven’t done ballet dancing since I was about 9 but you took me right back. Did you draw that picture too…?

Ah, that feeling of anxiety mixed with anticipation – you capture it quite well! I especially love this line: “…pumps waiting on the side to be overworn on precious and talented feet.” That expresses so much the dichotomy between fashion and the dress (dressage?) of skill. Nice!
